Old Mate on First Cruise Has no Idea What Upside Down Pineapple on Door Means

Written by Anna Hemsworth

Gerry Andrews got the fright of his life while on his first cruise earlier this month.

It has long been known that an upside down pineapple on a cabin door is the universal sign for swinging couples.

However for first-time cruiser Gerry, he had no idea.

"I thought it was for some sort of VIP cabins at first".

"I asked this European bloke at the bar and he said it's for couples wanting to be friendly. I just didn't realise how friendly".

"I sort of thought something was up when I was speaking to my neighbour who had one on his door and he started smiling at his wife".

"They asked us to dinner and we didn't think anything of it until they said your room or ours at the end".

"I haven't been able to look them in the eye since and we still had a week to go".

More to come.
